THE FORMER Enterprise pub, The Antwerp Arms, in Tottenham has reopened as a community enterprise. Annie, as it is known locally, is now owned by a community of 300 shareholders, and run by a 12-person management committee.
The new team have worked hard change the pub’s focus from being a match day venue for fans that was empty the rest of the year to a community space enjoyed by everyone from families to senior citizens every day.
The management team have also made commitments to the local community. These include reviving the local economy by providing jobs and using local products. There are also plans to introduce food offerings based on local suppliers, and to introduce local beers.
And with the atmosphere in the pub reported as being ‘fantastic’ since its reopening, and financial targets beaten in its first week, the Annie is off to a good start.
