CATERING FIRM Aramark has come under fire for throwing away food prepared for Olympics teams.
Employees working for catering firm Aramark have told BBC London they were being ordered to throw away food meant for Olympic and Paralympic teams immediately after it was cooked.
Aramark told the BBC that it denies any suggestion it “improperly disposed of food“, but the Games’ environmental watchdog has launched an investigation.
Six whistleblowers working for Aramark said they were being told to throw 20kg of meat [and] 40kg of vegetables.
Photos and videos taken by some employees show quantities of food thrown in bins.
WWF recently published a scorecard which showed the Olympics as the greenest ever, but there were a number of areas where targets were not met.
