FOLLOWING AN unprecedented level of entries from colleges across the country, including a number of first-time applications, the 30 student teams to make it through the initial stage of Nestlé Toque d’Or® 2014 have been announced. These teams progress to the regional Heats which will take place around the country from the 3rd-7th February.
Amongst the teams to have landed coveted spots are first time Nestlé Toque d’Or® entrants Richmond Upon Thames, Northampton, Doncaster and Londonderry. Joining them are Nestlé Toque d’Or® veterans University College Birmingham, winners in 2011and Westminster Kingsway, who took the top spot in 2012, as well as many others.
Speaking about their chance to shine at this year’s competition Mark Rooksby, who is the tutor of the team from Leicester College, said: “We are delighted to have made it through to the Heats stage of such a prestigious competition and are especially excited to be the first team from our College to have done so; quite a few first-time teams have won so we are feeling lucky this year!”
Neil Stephens, Managing Director of Nestlé Professional® UK&I added “The level of knowledge, skill and passion from the teams entering Toque d’Or never fails to impress.”
“As we now move in to the hotly contested heats stage, I would like to wish every competing team the very best of luck.”
The 30 teams who have made it through to the Heats stage of Nestlé Toque d’Or® 2014 now go on to compete at Birmingham, Leeds, Glasgow, Bristol or London. Just six teams will make it through to the Finals; from 6th-9th March.
