Eat Wild is delighted to announce this year’s dates for the annual #GreatBritishGameWeek celebration – 4th-10th November 2024 – and is calling the food sector to save the date, get behind the celebration and introduce new people to all that is great about local British game meat, promising promotion of pubs and restaurants if wild meat is served on their menus throughout the week.
Great British Game Week is a celebration of wild game, promoted by Eat Wild, the development and marketing board for wild meat. Now in its seventh year running, the week-long promotion will be a focus for events, dinners, and special offers promoting game to consumers right across the UK. People will be encouraged to taste game for the first time and to try new game products.
Eat Wild is on a mission to open new markets for game and in the last year alone, has introduced it to the menu of large-scale catering events, stadiums, and schools. During Great British Game Week, the team will travel across the country to hand out tasters, recipe booklets, host dinners and educate more people about wild meat.
Wild meat is lean, high in protein, low in fat and astonishingly versatile; the flavour profiles of one type of bird are completely unlike any other, giving you plenty of room to experiment in the kitchen. It also has a lower carbon footprint than most mass-produced meats, and the industry is essential to the management and maintenance of countryside environments.
As well as in more traditional recipes such as game pies, burgers, and charcuterie, game can be easily incorporated into a plethora of cuisines. EatWild champions this tasty versatility, encouraging people to explore new and different ways of cooking game, with enticing recipes ranging from Korean Fried Pheasant, Persian Saffron Yoghurt & Pheasant Kebabs, Partridge and Chorizo Paella, Venison Chili Con Carne and Tacos, Moroccan Pheasant Tagine,Teriyaki Mallard Stir Fry with Noodles and much more.

Restaurants that have previously celebrated Great British Game Week include; Le Bab, which sold out of their grouse kebab in the first two days, Boisdale, who were serving wild venison, grouse goulash, as well as pheasant escalope with cured ham and sage. The Shed, Nutbourne, and Rabbit served roast partridge alongside broccoli, crispy potatoes, and blackberry jus. Sussex had venison haunch with red cabbage, truffled mushroom duxelles, and red kale on the menu. Holborn Dining Room had game pie on the menu, and La Tua Pasta celebrated with tortellini pheasant, mushroom and truffle with a creamy mushroom sauce in their Borough Market stall. Other pubs and restaurants around the UK who embraced Game Week with special menus included: The Red Lion (Burnsall), The Beverley Arms , The Millstone (Mellor), The Bailiwick (Egham) , Lyle’s Tea Building, Brat, Rosewood London, Savile Club, Crown and Anchor (Chichester), The Betjeman Arms (St Pancras), King’s Arms (Wandsworth), Hollywood Arms (Chelsea), The Onslow (Clandon), The Wheatsheaf (Esher Green), The Grantley Arms (Wonersh), The White Horse (Ascombe), The Wheatsheaf Inn (Cotswolds).
