THE LOCAL Government Association (LGA) is urging pubs, restaurants and cinemas to display calorie information as part of a voluntary initiative.
Representing more than 370 councils, the LGA hopes that displaying calorie information will help to tackle Britain’s growing obesity problem. It could help by allowing consumers to make more informed choices, and to be more aware of the calories they are consuming.
The US has recently introduced a similar scheme, with restaurant chains, cinemas and pizza restaurants displaying calories on their menus.
