A welsh farmer has installed a hydro electric plant on his farm at Mallwyd, Meirionnydd.
According to Ecodyfi, the local regeneration organisation for the Dyfi Valley, in Mid Wales, Tegwyn Jones is hoping that the farm’s economic outlook will be boosted by this foray into eco-energy and that this will support two of his sons who want to remain at the when they finish their education.
He apparently borrowed this idea of from his late grandfather who similar hydro electric plants in the 1920s and 1930s.
For all those who thought they were at the forefront of technology by harnessing the world’s natural resources – it’s actually business as usual. Much that is “new” in sustainability is more like going back to the future.
