THE IMPACT of making sustainable changes can be felt across the community sometimes, as evidenced by the University of Sheffield’s recent decision to move its dairy contract to local farm Our Cow Molly.
From September the farm will provide the university with all its milk, which will allow Our Cow Molly to look to the future and invest £500,000 into its operation and increase its output from 8,000 litres to 40,000 litres, expanding exponentially and creating new jobs and opportunities in the local area.
Ed Andrews of Our Cow Molly said: “The new dairy is an investment for the next generation of our farm.
“It will make a huge difference to the way we work with modern machinery and computers taking over many of the jobs we currently do by hand such as dating, labelling and filling the bottles.”
He added: “Every penny from the milk will remain in Sheffield so the university’s commitment will benefit many more local businesses than ours.”
Gavin Brown, Commercial Manager at University of Sheffield added: “We’re really proud of our Yorkshire roots so we work hard to build relationships with local suppliers and support the city of Sheffield’s economy.”
