It’s the second time a UK company has been awarded pan European award and the first to a company providing cleaning chemicals. The award is manifest to the importance of minimising the impact of cleaning chemicals and more broadly the fact the UK is taking sustainability seriously and now beating its European counterparts.

Delphis Eco were invited to receive the award at DEFRA’s London headquarters. Handing over the award on behalf of the EU Ecolabel scheme, Environment Minister Lord de Mauley said:

“This award is a testament to Delphis Eco’s commitment to environmental performance. I am delighted that a UK company has won this award and I wish them every success as they continue to make the case for environmentally sustainable products while contributing to growing the UK economy.”

During 2012 Delphis Eco partnered with Keep Britain Tidy and their Eco Schools programme to educate children about sustainability, behavioral change and green wash. The EU Ecolabel logo was a key aspect of the programme, indicating a label they could trust. 7000 schools were contacted in total and the Green Flag Eco Schools programme changed their reward scheme to recognize best practice by giving more points to schools who procured goods which had independent EU Ecolabel accreditation.

Delphis Eco is the leading British manufacturer of ecological cleaning products and the first one to be awarded the EU Ecolabel in the “All-purpose cleaners” product group. It is the only UK company to exclusively produce environmentally friendly cleaning products for the commercial sector. Its range on professional products for all industries works effectively across all sectors: housekeeping, catering and washrooms.

Mark Jankovich, CEO “For us the EU Ecolabel accreditation is critical for our customers in proving the ecological provenance of our product range. Everyone is jumping on the sustainability bandwagon but the independent EU Ecolabel accreditation immediately gives the consumer the ability to identify those brands that they can trust, and re-assurance against green washing.”
