Diners will be invited to add a small amount of money to their bill in certain restaurants during September and October as part of a campaign to tackle global hunger.
Venues including Hawksmoor, The Pig, Club Mexicana and Hakkasan are taking part in this year’s Restaurants Against Hunger campaign run by the charity Action Against Hunger.
Participating venues invite diners to add an optional £1 to their bill at the end of their meal. The money raised helps fund the charity’s work in 56 countries supporting communities in crisis through nutrition, food security and emergency response programmes.
In 2024, Action Against Hunger responded to 64 emergencies across 30 countries, including conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine, and natural disasters in Myanmar and South Sudan.
“Customers and staff alike want to be part of something meaningful. They want to know their restaurant is doing its part to make a difference,” said Will Beckett, co-founder of Hawksmoor.
“That’s why I urge any restaurant that wants to give back to join the Restaurants Against Hunger campaign.”
The annual Restaurants Against Hunger campaign has raised £4.4m since its launch.
