UNILEVER HAS revealed that its brands with the strongest sustainability credentials – such as Ben & Jerry’s, Dove, Lifebuoy and Comfort – have performed the best.
Unilever revealed that brands leading its sustainability agenda accounted for half of the businesses growth in 2014 and grew twice as fast as its other brands. These brands have see growth at high single or double digit rate in the last three years,while reducing waste, water use in manufacturing, and CO2 from energy use has created cost efficiencies.
“Consumers are increasingly demanding responsible business and responsible brands,” said Paul Polman, Unilever CEO. “Our experience is that brands whose purpose and products respond to that demand – ‘sustainable living brands’ – are delivering stronger and faster growth.”
