As part of its commitment to care for its parks, people, and planet, Parkdean Resorts, the UK’s leading holiday park operator, has reaffirmed its support for the David Bellamy Blooming Marvellous Pledge for Nature, accelerating the ongoing nature and wildlife preservation initiatives across its 66 parks.
The Blooming Marvellous Pledge builds on the admirable nature conservation work holiday parks across the UK, including Parkdean Resorts, contributed to under the original David Bellamy Conservation Award Scheme, which ran for over 25 years. The Scheme was originally set up by the British Holiday & Home Parks Association (BH&HPA) and Professor David Bellamy, who was one of the UK’s leading environmentalists. The Pledge honours his legacy and his practical and pragmatic approach to nature conservation.
Creating sustainable spaces for nature and a positive environmental impact is one of Parkdean Resorts’ key ESG priorities, and all of the company’s 66 parks have previously been awarded a prestigious gold, silver or bronze accolade from the David Bellamy Conservation Awards.
To maintain the prestigious accreditation, and as part of this pledge, all of Parkdean Resorts’ parks across the UK will undertake one of the four wildlife challenges to continue protecting the environment and aid in providing an ideal habitat for a range of species of birds, animals, trees and flowers. These include initiatives to enhance existing water and wetland areas, creating ‘homes’ for wildlife, as well as creating an oasis for special species on park.
Commenting on the new initiative, Colin Pearse, Parkdean Resorts’ Regional Director for Scotland and the project’s sponsor, said: “Our parks are situated in outstandingly beautiful locations, with an abundance of natural assets. We are absolutely thrilled to be able to continue our partnership with the David Bellamy scheme and to be taking part in the David Bellamy Pledge for Nature.
“It is a brilliant opportunity for us to nurture and grow the habitats and diverse natural spaces we’re lucky to have on park, and we cannot wait to see the brilliant work our teams will continue to do to support wildlife conservation.”
Rufus Bellamy, son of David Bellamy, added: “We are delighted to have Parkdean Resorts working with us to continue the brilliant work they do to protect the abundance of nature and wildlife across their parks.”
Parkdean Resorts is committed to caring for its parks, people, and planet, and with 3,500 acres of land in some of the UK’s finest beauty spots, the business is dedicated to protecting these areas of outstanding natural beauty. Last year, a number of the business’ holiday parks participated in the Great British Beach Clean, a week-long event run by the Marine Conservation Society to aid conservation work and help keep our seas clean, with volunteers coming together to pick up litter found along the coast. An impressive 422kg of litter was collected across all participating beaches in total.
