Catering students cook up a storm

CATERING STUDENTS from South Staffordshire College’s Cannock Campus have received recognition for their contribution to a major charity event.

Chairman of Cannock Chase District Council, John Beddows (pictured), visited the College’s Gordons Restaurant at its Cannock Campus to personally thank the 10 students who provided the catering for the Council’s premier charity fundraiser, The Chairman’s Ball.

The event was themed in 1940’s war time and the catering students cooked and presented food from that era.

Councillor Beddows presented certificates and vouchers for paint balling and Silver Blades ice rink in Cannock to students Sian Mace, Holly Howdle, Payge Goodfellow, Charlotte Hughes, Chloe Edwards, Ellie Marsh, Anton Crawford Dowe, Tommy Reynolds, Caitlin Platt and Jonathon Drew.

College Tutor Karen Bell said the catering students really benefited from the experience. Anton Crawford Dowe, said: “I worked in the kitchen for the function and although it was extremely hard work it taught me how rewarding catering can be by being part of an event and helping others at the same time.”
