The Footprint Awards closed to new entries this week and with over 100 entries to the categories from across the foodservice sector all eyes are now turning to the shortlist and the Awards dinner at the RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects). Those attending can look forward to an extraordinary evening which aims to celebrate the best in sustainability both on-stage and on the dinner tables.
The RIBA is a beautiful venue with its own stringent sustainability guidelines and the menu, designed by CH&Cos Executive Chef David Cavalier, will use sustainably produced ingredients. Even the crockery, the staff uniforms, the table linen, the fine wine and cocktails – all will tell a story of sustainability. The evening is about showing that being sensitive to your environment can also titillate the taste buds!
And to draw attention to the good things that are happening in Foodservice, the evening will feature some surprising creations from Fashion students that will open our eyes to how we can think differently about what we consume and how we can reuse it.
Talking of students, The Footprint Awards are more than just industry recognition; theyre all about encouraging new talent into the industry. At a time when graduate job and work placements are at a premium, the Awards have started a student internship scheme supported by sponsors to create new research and to provide students in sustainability some experience in the world of work. The 19th May will see a gathering of leaders in sustainability from the across the foodservice supply chain for an extraordinary celebration.
