Lee Woodger began working for the National Farmers Union in 2005 initially as a member of the Communications Team and was appointed to the position of Head of Food Chain Unit in 2008.
The primary role of the team is to seek to improve the position of farmers within an ever more competitive supply chain and therefore involves considerable communication with the UKs largest grocery retailers, food service and food manufacturing companies so that they are aware of the importance of ensuring that all parts of the food chain are economically sustainable. The Food Chain teams remit is broad and includes engagement on additional issues including EU legislation and policies, public procurement, the London Olympics and organic food and farming.
