ARAMARK HAS announced that its partnership with Chef Direct has resulted in 60% delivery reductions across its portfolio and a 50% decrease in total number of road miles.
Aramark appointed Chef Direct as its new distribution services partner in October 2012. Chef Direct uses multi-temperature vehicles meaning that all products can be brought to client sites in one lorry or van, reducing the number of deliveries and miles travelled.
Carbon Neutral – a leading independent carbon solutions company – has confirmed that Aramark’s carbon emissions related to goods delivery are on track to fall by 33% by the end of 2013, as a result of this new partnership.
Matthew Flood, Logistics Director, Aramark, said: “Our clients quite rightly want a service which is efficient, reliable and environmentally friendly. Our innovative and ground-breaking partnership with Chef Direct is proving to be all these.
“Typically, our clients will have to report on their own impact on the environment. By working with Aramark they can demonstrate that substantial and meaningful steps are being taken to reduce their carbon footprint via their supply base.”
