Compass has joined the Roundtable on Responsible Soy (RTRS). The move comes hot on the heels of the catering firm’s poor performance in last month’s Soy Scorecard, published by WWF.
Compass scored four points out of 24, which actually put it ahead of the likes of Sodexo (3) and Elior (0).
The 2016 Scorecard is the first Compass has participated in. On publication of its score, a spokeswoman said: “We’re pleased to have made this positive step – one of only a few companies in the food service industry to have done so.”
The vast majority of soy in the company’s supply chains is embedded further upstream within animal feed used to produce meat, fish and dairy products.
Compass declined to comment on why it has joined the RTRS, news that was reported by FoodNavigator.
