Health and wellbeing is at the very heart of Compass Group UK & Ireland and the business has taken a series of innovative steps over the last few years to help millions of consumers choose healthier lifestyles every day. These initiatives include investing over £1 million in systems to analyse recipes and menus, rolling out nutritional labelling, helping over 6,000 colleagues learn about health and wellbeing and leading the way in reducing the amount of salt and saturated fat in its food2.

Compass’ approach is encapsulated in its Know Your Food programme. Know Your Food is a platform created by Compass to inform consumers about healthy living and sustainable sourcing. Compass teams in Scotland and across the wider business win numerous awards for championing healthy eating in the food service industry. Compass in Scotland will now look to maintain this momentum and take its commitment further through Supporting Healthy Choices and continued support of the Healthy Living Award.

Wilson Barrie, Chair of Compass in Scotland, said; “As caterers, we have a really important role to play in helping and encouraging people to eat a healthy, balanced diet. Our achievements to date, both in Scotland and across our wider business, demonstrate our ongoing commitment to providing information that helps our consumers maintain a balanced diet. We welcome initiatives that keep health and wellbeing at the top of the agenda and we’re looking forward to working with the Scottish Government to take the Supporting Healthy Choices framework forward.”

Nicky Martin, Head of Nutrition, Compass Group UK and Ireland added; “Providing information, education and support to our consumers so they can make healthy choices is so important, and doing so in an engaging way really helps to improve people’s health. This has been a core focus for us as an organisation and through Supporting Healthy Choices, we’ll continue to champion health and wellbeing across our sites.”
