NEWCASTLES CITY library will boast hot drinks triple certified by Fairtrade, Rainforest Alliance and the Soil Association.
The move is part of the aspretto offer from caterer Sodexo Prestige, which recently won the £1.5m contract to operate the librarys ground floor café.
Only recyclable and bio-degradable signage and packaging is used as part of the offer, while all products are traceable and ethically sourced.
Sodexos STOP Hunger initiative will also benefit from a donation every time tea or coffee is purchased for the aspretto offer.
Sodexo Prestige is working closely with Newcastle City Libraries to expand its events offering and support its sales strategy and is extending its café facility into the area outside the library in a summer initiative.
