LABOUR MARKET Statistics released by the Office of National Statistics have revealed that the hospitality sector has helped to create over 107,000 new jobs in the last 12 months.
The jobs were in the ‘accommodation and foodservice activities’ sector. This includes restaurants, pubs, bars, contract caterers and hotels.
The North West and the South East beat London to create the most jobs, creating over 23,000 jobs apiece to London’s 22,000. Strong growth in the North East (11%) and East Midlands (10.6%) was tempered by a loss of 10,000 jobs in the South West (4.3%).
