The theme for 2015 ‘From Concept to Recovery’ continues the work the FPA has embarked upon to facilitate a programme of collaboration between members of the foodservice supply chain from manufacturers, distributors, foodservice operators and caterers to waste management companies and recyclers. The objective is to ensure a greater proportion of the value of used foodservice packaging is realised through recovery and recycling.

Confirmed speakers at the ‘From Concept to Recovery’ seminar include Richard Swannnell Director at WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme), Andrew Bird, Chairman of the Local Authorities Recycling Advisory Committee (LARAC), Mike Hanson, Head of Sustainability & Environment Management at BaxterStorey and Nick Cliffe from the Simply Cups Recycling Scheme. Further speakers will be confirmed as the date approaches.

The ‘From Concept to Recovery’ afternoon debate is preceded by a morning workshop session covering developments in EU legislation over the next three years and updates on recent EU policy directives that impact on FPA members businesses. Speakers include Jane Bickerstaffe, Director at INCPEN, Norman Lett, Head of Regulatory Affairs, Ball Packaging and Sarah Steeds, Waste Programme – Producer Responsibility Team Leader, DEFRA.

The judges of the Innovations in Packaging Category of Footprint Awards 2014 were so disappointed with the entries from the packaging community, that it was decided not to present an award. As the foodservice supply chain’s only sustainability and responsible business  focused awards scheme, Footprint Awards represents a shop window for innovation in packaging and an opportunity for manufacturers to pitch to the broader industry community. We therefore urge members of the Foodservice Packaging Association to put forth it achievements for Footprint Awards 2015.
